Marine Corps – Law Enforcement Foundation Gives Top Awards to Equitable Holdings President Nick Lane and former Secretary of the Navy Gordon England
Leaders will be honored at MC-LEF’s Annual Gala in NYC on April 3
New York, NY (February 13, 2025) – The Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, which provides educational and humanitarian support to families of fallen Marines and law enforcement personnel, today announced the recipients of two of its most prestigious awards:
The Commandant’s Leadership Award will go to Equitable Holdings President Nick Lane. Previous recipients of this award include former Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, General James L. Jones (USMC, Ret.), Related Companies Chairman Stephen M. Ross, The Honorable Henry A. Kissinger, and President Donald J. Trump.
The Eagle, Globe and Anchor Award will go to former Secretary of the Navy and Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England. Previous recipients of this award include former California Governor Pete Wilson, former Vice President Dick Cheney and former Senator John Warner.
These awards are given annually to exceptional public and private sector leaders who have gone above and beyond to support MC-LEF’s mission and the needs of military servicemembers and their families. Lane and England will be honored on April 3 at Cipriani Wall Street during the annual MC-LEF Gala, a black-tie event featuring many of the top military, business, and civic leaders from New York and across America.
“Thirty years after its founding, MC-LEF’s work is more important than ever,” said MC-LEF President John Keenan. “We are sustained year after year by selfless donors and leaders like Nick Lane and Gordon England, who embody the values of patriotism and service instilled in every U.S. Marine and law enforcement officer. I congratulate both Nick and Gordon for receiving these well-deserved honors.”
As President of Equitable, Nick Lane leads the company’s Commercial Businesses and its Marketing, Customer Experience, and Strategy functions. Mr. Lane has held many leadership roles in his nearly 15-year career with the company. Most recently, he served as CEO and President of AXA Japan. Before entering the financial services industry, he was a U.S. Marine Corps Officer.
The Honorable Gordon England has had a decorated career in both the public and private sectors. He served as Deputy Secretary of Defense and Secretary of the Navy in President 2
George W. Bush’s administration. An engineer by training, he worked for Honeywell and General Dynamics, where he became Executive Vice President responsible for information systems and international sectors.
About the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation
Since its creation in 1995, the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation (MC-LEF) has offered educational funding to the children of fallen military service members. Thanks to our generous donors, MC-LEF currently establishes a $40,000 educational account for every child who loses a parent serving on active duty as a federal law enforcement agent, a member of the United States Marine Corps, or a Navy Corpsman.
To date, MC-LEF has awarded over $93 million in educational accounts and other humanitarian assistance to over 5,900 recipients.
